Botox

What is BOTOX?

BOTOX® is a brand of Botulinum Toxin Type A used in medicine and aesthetics.

Botulinum toxin works by temporarily reducing nerve signals to certain muscles or glands. Because of how it works, Botox is used not only for facial wrinkles, but also on specific muscles that affect the shape of the face and body, and for some medical conditions.

For facial treatments, GLOSKIN divides Botox into BOTOX 3D and BOTOX 6D.

BOTOX 3D

Focuses on 3 main areas of the upper face:

  • Forehead: lines and wrinkles on the forehead
  • Glabella: the lines between the eyebrows when you frown
  • Crow’s Feet: wrinkles at the corners of the eyes when you smile

BOTOX 3D is for friends who want to reduce the look of expression lines, especially on the forehead and around the eyes.

BOTOX 6D – Full Face Botox

Treated areas can include the forehead, around the eyes, nose, around the mouth, chin, and jawline, depending on your needs. Not every area has to be injected. The doctor decides which muscles need treatment based on each patient’s face shape, expressions, and muscle strength.

What Can BOTOX Help With?

Besides BOTOX 3D and 6D, botulinum toxin can be used for several other needs.

Face & Body Contouring

Masseter Botox

Helps slim the jawline when a wide jaw is caused by an enlarged masseter muscle.

Trapezius Botox

Helps reduce the activity and prominence of the trapezius muscle so the shoulder area can look slimmer, in suitable cases.

Calf Botox

Helps reduce the look of large calves when the main cause is a dominant calf muscle.

Certain Conditions

Hyperhidrosis / Excessive Sweating

Botulinum toxin can help reduce excessive sweating by blocking the nerve signals that stimulate the sweat glands. One area that can be treated is the underarms.

Chronic Migraine

BOTOX® is also used as preventive therapy for chronic migraine in patients who meet the medical criteria. This treatment is not intended for every type of headache or migraine and requires a doctor’s examination first.

How Does It Work?

The doctor identifies the muscle or area causing the problem, then injects botulinum toxin at specific points and doses. The effect is temporary. On muscles, the treatment helps reduce contraction. For hyperhidrosis, botulinum toxin helps reduce the stimulation of the sweat glands.

Who Is It For?

Botulinum toxin can be considered for friends who have:

  • Wrinkles caused by facial expressions
  • Muscle activity that affects face shape
  • A wide jaw caused by the masseter muscle
  • A dominant trapezius or calf muscle
  • Excessive sweating in certain areas
  • Chronic migraine that meets the medical criteria

The cause of the problem needs to be examined first. For example, a jaw, shoulder, or calf that looks large is not always caused by muscle, so Botox may not be the right treatment.

How Long Is the Procedure & Recovery?

The treatment usually takes about 10–30 minutes, but it can take longer depending on the area and goal.

After the procedure you may notice redness, slight swelling, soreness at the injection points, or temporary bruising. Recovery time and aftercare can differ depending on the area treated.

When Do Results Show & How Long Do They Last?

The effect of botulinum toxin appears gradually within 3-14 days after treatment.

Results last 4-4.5 months. This can differ for each person and depends on the area, treatment goal, dose, muscle strength, and how the body responds. A doctor’s evaluation is needed to decide when the next treatment should be.

Can It Be Combined with Other Treatments?

Yes, if needed.

For facial treatments, Botox can be combined with HA filler, skin boosters, lasers, or lifting treatments when the concern also involves volume, skin quality, or tissue laxity. Combinations are chosen based on the problem to be treated, not simply to add more procedures.

Consult a GLOSKIN Doctor

Botox has many uses, but the injection points, dose, and goal differ for every person.

A GLOSKIN doctor will first examine you to find the cause of the problem and decide whether botulinum toxin is the right choice.

The right treatment is not about using as much Botox as possible, but about using the right dose in the areas that actually need it.
