Chubby Cheek & Double Chin
What is Chubby Cheek & Double Chin Injection?
Chubby Cheek & Double Chin Injection is a treatment that uses a lipolysis agent injected into the fat layer of the cheeks or under the chin.
One treatment dose consists of 3 cc of lipo injection. It can be focused on:
- The cheek area or chubby cheeks
- The area under the chin or double chin
- A combination of both, based on the doctor’s examination
The dose split between areas is not always equal because it is adjusted to fat thickness, symmetry, face shape, and the patient’s target results.
What concerns can it address?
This treatment can help with:
- Cheeks that look too full or chubby
- Mild fat buildup under the chin
- A double chin that remains visible even without excess weight
- A less defined boundary between chin and neck
- A jawline hidden by localized fat
- A lower face that looks heavier
- Left and right facial contours that look unbalanced due to fat distribution
This treatment is not meant for weight loss and is not a substitute for a healthy diet or exercise.
How does it work?
The lipolysis agent is injected in a targeted way into the fat layer mapped out by the doctor.
The agent helps damage or break down fat cells in the treated area. The remaining fat cell material is then processed and cleared gradually through the body’s natural mechanisms.
Because the process is gradual, results are not visible right after the injection.
Who is it suitable for?
This treatment can be considered for patients who:
- Have mild to moderate localized fat in the cheeks or under the chin
- Find it hard to reduce a double chin even with controlled weight
- Want a slimmer-looking face without surgery
- Have a relatively stable weight
- Have fairly good skin elasticity
- Want gradual contour change
- Have realistic expectations
The treatment may be less suitable if the main issue comes from:
- Large jaw muscles
- Facial bone structure
- Moderate to severe loose skin
- A chin that is too short or recessed
- Inner cheek fat or deep buccal fat
- Overall excess weight
How long does the procedure take, and what is recovery like?
The procedure usually takes about 20-30 minutes, not including consultation and preparation. After the injection, patients may experience:
- Mild to quite visible swelling
- Redness
- A warm or stinging feeling
- Pain when touched
- Bruising
- Temporary numbness or tingling
- Treated area that feels firmer
Swelling is usually more visible during the first few days, then gradually reduces. Some patients can return to activities right away.
How many sessions are needed?
Treatment can start with 1 dose of 3 cc, then the results are evaluated after recovery is complete. Some patients need several sessions, depending on:
- Fat thickness and size
- The area treated
- Face and chin shape
- The body’s response
- Skin elasticity
- The desired target change
Follow-up treatments are not done too soon. The doctor needs to wait for swelling to subside so contour changes can be assessed more accurately.
When will results start to show?
Results are not visible right away because the body needs time to process the targeted fat cells. Progress is generally:
- First day: swelling, redness, or discomfort may appear
- 1-2 weeks: swelling starts to reduce
- 3-6 weeks: contour changes start to show
- The following weeks: results can develop gradually
Results differ for each patient. Changes in weight, diet, lifestyle, fat thickness, and the body’s response can affect the results and how long they last.
Does it need to be combined with other treatments?
A combination can be considered if the face looks full for more than one reason. Some combination options include:
- Jaw Botox, if the face looks wide because of a large masseter muscle
- UltraLift Liftera, to help tighten skin and sharpen contours
- Exilis Face or radiofrequency, to support skin tightening
- Chin filler, if the chin is short or lacks projection
- Jawline filler, to help shape the jawline
- Threadlift, if there is facial tissue that has started to sag
- Weight management program, if facial fat is related to body composition and excess weight

Consult with a GLOSKIN doctor
Chubby cheeks and a double chin are not always caused by fat. Face shape is also influenced by muscle, bone, chin position, skin elasticity, and weight changes.
Before the procedure, your GLOSKIN doctor will:
- Analyze your face shape and proportions
- Check the thickness and location of fat
- Tell subcutaneous fat apart from deep buccal fat
- Assess skin firmness
- Check facial symmetry
- Decide on a safe treatment area
- Decide the dose split between the cheeks and under the chin
- Explain realistic results and possible side effects
- Decide whether a combination of treatments is needed
