Subcision
What is subcision?
Subcision is a procedure to release scar tissue that pulls the skin downward. Using a special needle, the bands under the skin are cut so that depressed acne scars can lift and the skin surface looks more even.
How does it work?
A special needle is used to release scar tissue that pulls the skin inward. Once released, the skin can lift gradually, and new collagen formation helps improve skin texture.
Who is it suitable for?
Subcision is suitable for depressed acne scars, especially rolling scars caused by scar tissue pulling the skin down. The doctor will first examine your skin to confirm the right procedure.
How long does the procedure take, and what is recovery like?
The procedure usually takes about 30-60 minutes, depending on the size of the area and the number of scars. Redness, swelling, mild pain, or bruising may occur afterward and are usually temporary. Recovery generally takes a few days to about 1-2 weeks, depending on how your skin responds.
How many sessions are needed?
The number of sessions differs for each patient. Usually several sessions at certain intervals are needed for better results.
When will results start to show?
Changes in skin contour may start to show after recovery, but results develop gradually over several weeks to months as new collagen forms.
Does it need to be combined with other treatments?
Subcision can be done with other treatments as supporting combinations to complete the treatment and achieve the desired results more optimally, such as PRP, laser combinations, skin booster, HA (hyaluronic acid), and other treatments according to your skin condition.
Things to note before and after treatment
Before the procedure, tell your doctor about any medications or supplements you take, as well as any allergies or specific skin conditions. After the procedure, avoid touching or pressing the area excessively, keep the skin clean, use sunscreen, and follow the care instructions given by your doctor.
Consult with a GLOSKIN doctor
Each type of scar has different characteristics. Consult with a GLOSKIN doctor to determine whether subcision is right for you and whether a combination of treatments is needed for the best results.
